ICAC - Cyber-Investigation 260 - Secure Techniques for Onsite Preview

This course is funded through OJJDP. To register for this class, you must be affiliated with an ICAC Task Force. Furthermore, you must agree to comply with the Best Practices and Standards established by ICAC. The 5 day STOP-T3 course utilizes advanced adult learning skills and takes the participants through a process and methodology that will train them on presenting the STOP course. This class utilizes a Linux-based bootable CD to preview a suspect computer system for potential evidence in a forensically sound manner. The CD is based on the Linux operating system, as it has the advantage of being able to “read” other computer system’s files without writing to or altering the data on those

STOP-T3 is an Instructor Development Project (IDP) course. In a T3 course, participants are trained to instruct the STOP course. After completing the “Train-the-trainer” course, they are supplied with all of the course materials that will allow them to instruct the course on their own, with support from NW3C. Instructors with varying investigative backgrounds will be able to grasp the concepts and materials necessary to instruct the course.

The STOP-T3 training will consist of a five day training event presented at several locations across the country. After attending the T3 course, STOP Instructors will determine when and where to sponsor a class in their area. NW3C will post the course on our web site for student registration and will provide all of the course materials, student roster, and certificates for the course. Continued updates to the curriculum will be provided to the STOP Instructor.

The STOP T3 program is open to any employee of a government agency with law enforcement or regulatory powers. The ideal candidate would have experience in providing training to law enforcement personnel. Limited technical skills are required. Any individual interested in becoming an STOP-IDP Instructor will be able to register through the Centers web site.
