This course is funded through OJJDP. To register for this class, you must be affiliated with an ICAC Task Force. Furthermore, you must agree to comply with the Best Practices and Standards established by ICAC. If you have any questions about the ICAC Best Practices and Standards, please contact your ICAC commander.

This 2-day course is designed as a basic introduction for officers, investigators and analysts who require the knowledge and skill set to initiate or follow-up on cell phone related cases. The student is expected to have basic computer literacy and some experience in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Access.

This class will train investigators and analysts how to

• Request, read, and analyze Call Detail Records provided by cellular providers

• Understand and plot cellular site locations to determine the location of a suspect during a given time frame

• Instruct first responders how to seize and preserve evidence on a cell phone until that phone can be fully analyzed.

No special knowledge of hardware or software is required, just a new knowledgebase to apply to cell phone cases. The student is taught techniques for tying cell site and other provider information together for case reports and/or courtroom presentations.
